
About Angela Reaney Attorney at Law

A “pitbull in a skirt” is the nickname Angela’s client gave her after she obtained his immediate release from two federal life sentences. Angela’s advocacy skills result from her passionate defense against injustice combined with her unique criminal defense experiences across the country.
Prior to starting her practice, Angela was an attorney at Goodman Law Office in Chicago and the Federal Public Defender’s offices in Benton, Illinois, and Tallahassee, Florida. She has extensive experience representing clients accused of serious felonies including murder, drug and gun crimes, sex offenses, and foreign agent cases in trial, appellate, postconviction, and federal habeas corpus proceedings.
Before practicing criminal law, Angela served as a law clerk to Judge J. Phil Gilbert and Judge Staci Yandle in the Southern District of Illinois and Judge Harris Hartz in the Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She was also an adjunct professor at Southern Illinois University’s School of Law and criminology department, teaching courses ranging from Wrongful Convictions to Federal Habeas Corpus.
Angela graduated summa cum laude from Southern Illinois University School of Law and holds a master’s degree in criminology from Florida State University.
